What happens when you pray over your husband

When a wife prays over her husband there are three amazing outcomes.

1st John 5:15

15 And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.

God answers your prayers, lift your husband up to the Lord.

It’s ok to pray WITH him but I want to encourage you to pray OVER him.

1: CREATES SPIRITUAL INTIMACY
If you were to quiz any married man and asked him to rate how he feels when his wife prays ‘over’ him, he would say “It is a 10 out of 10 or even higher.” Why?

Why would a man feel so touched by the notion? Continue reading “What happens when you pray over your husband”

My Baby Can Sleep

While there are many things that cause strain and conflict in marriage, often times one of the biggest offenders goes unnoticed. The Bible is certainly clear that children are a blessing from the Lord. That fact is undeniable. However, the constant strain a young infant can have on his parents from the day in and day out night wakes and feedings, hours of rocking and soothing and holding can drive a wedge between a husband and wife, emotionally and physically.

Mending a Broken Heart Episode 3 of 3

Over the last few weeks, I have been discussing the topic of mending a broken heart. The Bible gives us a roadmap to healing from many different types of brokenness. The first step is to humble yourself. When we humble ourselves, we are free to truly worship the Lord. It is then that we give full control over to Him and we trust that He is in control, regardless of the pain. The second step is to seek HIM through reading the Bible, meeting with other believers, and fasting. Continue reading “Mending a Broken Heart Episode 3 of 3”

Mending a Broken Heart – Episode 2

Last week I began discussing the topic of healing a broken heart. The Bible gives us a roadmap to healing from many different types of brokenness. The first step is to humble yourself. When we humble ourselves, we are free to truly worship the Lord. It is then that we give full control over to Him and we trust that He is in control, regardless of the pain.

This week I want to discuss step two: To Seek His Face

How do we seek Him?

There are three key ways to seek God.

ONE: READ OUR BIBLES

God has already said everything we need to hear to prophets, disciples and apostles long before our time. They marvelously documented his words and directives.

Every time we read our bible, something new jumps off the pages as if it was brand new.

When you read your bible, I would suggest you journal. Write down anything that moves your spirit or mind such as things that are amazing to you, things that are confusing. Write down things that make you happy or sad. Journaling makes your journey so much more personal.

TWO: MEET WITH OTHER BELIEVERS

Often, God speaks through other people for various reasons. Sometimes it’s because we are tuning him out. Other times God uses other people and their passion to inspire us and change us. Seeking Godly people is the same as seeking God.

THREE: FAST

Fast wholeheartedly. Biblical fasting is a way to take our eyes off earthly things in order to focus more on the Lord. It doesn’t have to be a sacrifice of food, especially for those with health issues. Fasting can be giving up screen time in order to pray or spend time in the word. This is not meant to be a “one and done” event. The bible indicates that fasting is a lifestyle of serving. Serving God as well as others.

Isaiah 58 (don’t fast just to fast)

7 Is it not to share your food with the hungry
and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter—
when you see the naked, to clothe him,
and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?

8 Then your light will break forth like the dawn,
       and your healing will quickly appear;
then your righteousness [a] will go before you,
and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard.

 9 Then you will call, and the LORD will answer;
you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I.

Mending a broken heart

The Bible gives us a wonderful road map on how to heal a broken heart. Today I will show you 1 of 3 ways.

Broken from: Marriage has gone bad, parent abandoned you as a child, family member hurt you deeply.

2nd Chronicles 7:14
if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Whether you are the victim or the perpetrator….
Almost all people with pain would label themselves the victim.

Number one: Humble Yourself

* The bible indicated a particular order to healing.
* Many want to be healed first THEN they will change.

10 But when you are invited, take the lowest place, so that when your host comes, he will say to you, ‘Friend, move up to a better place.’ Then you will be honored in the presence of all your fellow guests. 11 For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”
Luke 14:10-11 (NIV)

* Limit the number of people you dump your pain on.
* Keep focused on His calling on your life.
* Remember the torcher the prophets endured without complaining.

“DON’T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF” YES or NO?

John came home and saw a note on the kitchen table that said “Honey, I am really upset because you forgot to make the bed. Please try harder!” John wrinkled up the note and threw it on the floor. Jenny had been nagging at him for years to be better at picking up after himself and keeping their home tidy. John felt ‘mothered’ and started resenting her.  Continue reading ““DON’T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF” YES or NO?”

MOTIVATE YOUR MAN USING FOUR WORDS

Judy was wondering why her husband had become so quiet. After ’rounding the bases’ with him using our small group class she found out the answer to her question. “Honey, I have felt really down lately. When I come home after feeling the stress of my job, you often greet me at the door with a long list of things I need to do or haven’t done. I am feeling like I’m on an island all alone and there is no relief in sight.”

THE RELATIONAL MAN

THE RELATIONAL MAN
Take the quiz and see if you are a relational man….or not. We think ‘RELATIONSHIPS’ are what move mountains. Often many distractions get in the way of a well-intentioned man. He may mean well but for many reasons he falls short at being relational to his family, his co-workers, his neighbors or his friends. He soon finds himself falling into ‘ruts’ that can be costly.

RELATIONSHIPS ARE WORK
The bottom line, relationships are work but they are also crucial for us to succeed at any level.
